Articulation 

Articulation refers to our ability to say the sounds in words so that people can understand what is being said.  The production of these sounds involves the coordination of breath, lips, teeth and tongue.

Accent Reduction

Accent reduction involves modifying articulation and intonation of English words and phrases to make speech more intelligible to other English speakers.

Neurogenic Speech Disorders

Neurogenic speech disorders can be caused by

  • Stroke
  • Brain tumor
  • Traumatic brain injury
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Other neurological diseases

Dysarthria is when patients have slurred speech which is generally caused by decreased muscle strength, and control and coordination of the facial muscles. 

Dypraxia is a disorder that affects the coordination of motor movements.  Patients who have dyspraxia may have difficulty pronouncing their words, organising the sequence of their words, and have difficulty controlling the volume, pitch and rate of their speech.
